Dr. Francisca Acosta is a Postdoctoral Fellow in the Department of Biochemistry and Structural Biology and NCI T32 Scholar at UT Health San Antonio. Currently, she is studying the role of Osteocytic Connexin43 hemichannels in metabolic function and breast cancer progression. She has a Ph.D. in Biomedical Engineering from the University of Texas at San Antonio, where her focus of research was development of a tissue engineered vascularized skeletal muscle model to study of type 2 diabetes (T2D).
