Dr. Tahir Maqbool Mir

Dr. Mir’s research is focused on discovery and early development of potential new drugs from natural products. He has recently developed and established animal models for promoting resilience against H1N1 influenza type A viral infection. Established in-vitro techniques for viral growth and titration. His project involves techniques like, in-vitro cell culture, viral titrations/plaque assays, in-vivo model development, immunology, histopathology. He and his team are constantly developing models for different diseases and conditions and test the pharmacological potential of various novel drug candidates isolated mostly from natural products. Dr. Mir’s doctoral thesis was focused on investigating the role of Diosmin in abrogating chemically induced hepatocarcinogenesis.
