Dr. Aadil Hussain Bhat

Scientist, UCLA School of Dentistry, Los Angeles, California USA

Dr. Bhat’s research in oral biology and medicine division at UCLA School of Dentistry, focuses on the surface protein glycosylation pathway and factors involved in mediating coaggregation and biofilm formation in oral bacteria such as Actinomyces oris. Dr. Bhat completed his doctoral thesis from CSIR-Institute of Microbial Technology, Chandigarh India, where he studied transcriptional regulation of a gene cluster in Mycobacterium tuberculosis involved in tRNA modification. He also analyzed protein glycosylation in bacteria leading to the development of a prokaryotic glycoprotein database, ProGlycProt and some glycosylation analysis tools like GlycoPP. Subsequently, he worked as a National Postdoctoral Fellow (N-PDF) studying potential mycobacterial glycoprotein antigens at IIT Roorkee for about a year.
